Just set up a new wpForo, but when I click on the Add Topic button, nothing happens. What do I need to do?

Hi @capro,

It seems the plugin installation was not successfully complete. Your hosting MySQL database version is too old and the forum tables are not created in database. Please make sure your hosting service MySQL version is 5.6 or higher, then deactivate wpForo and activate it again. You can find your hosting MySQL version in Dashboard > Forums > Dashboard admin page.

Also please check all errors and issues in Dashboard > Forums > Tools > Debug > [Errors & Issues] tab,

Okay, this is what MySQL is:

MySQL Version 5.6.41

As for Issues and Recommendations: No issues found.

That said, the Error Log File (/home2/swcumpir/public_html/error_log) is pretty extensive, with the last entry being

[01-Jan-2019 20:53:38 UTC] PHP Warning: Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by (output started at /home2/swcumpir/public_html/wp-content/plugins/simple-event-calendar/resources/assets/style/themes.css.php:8) in /home2/swcumpir/public_html/wp-includes/rest-api.php on line 576

Now, what do I do?

It say you have errors in from "simple-event-calendar" plugin. I'd recommend contact this plugin developers for support. However this may not be a direct reason. Please go to the [Tables] tab on the same admin page and let me know if you see a section for _wpforo_topics table.
