You can use this CSS code to make avatars square:
#wpforo #wpforo-wrap .avatar, .wpforo-widget-wrap .wpforo-widget-content .avatar {
border-radius: 0!important;
}
As per Message button, please leave forum URL to allow us debug the CSS, your theme conflicts with wpForo style. Sen Message button should not be in this location.
