Hello.

I have the following "problem", people are searching from my home page the theme (WP) default search, they don't find anything related (info from posts IN the forums) and leave.

Any ideas how i can solve this ? I mean is there a way for a global search (blog/pages AND forums) somehow ?

Thanks

I had the same problem and the fix was hiding the theme's search button.

I can't hide the default search. I also need it.

What i just tried is to add the wpForo search widget in the home page. Let's see how it goes.

Since there can't be a global search (i think), what would be an idea is to have the USER select where he wants to search (blog posts or forums). Not sure how that can be done.

(actually i think is it easy to do. create a widget that apart from the input field, has also two options. search the blog or search the forums. and call either the default search of WP or the wpForo search)

I've added "Forum Search" widget to my main blog page and it works.

The drawback is that I have 2 search widgets - one for the blog and another one for the form, but it does the job.

It shouldn't be that hard to make a widget for both, what do you think ? The search widgets do not "do" any serious work, they call/point to either the WP search or wpForo search by feeding them the input search words.

Pitty, that i'm not a programmer.

I will try my luck with this (other plugins may exist, this came up 1st).

You can add (they say) any search form you want and use it as a widget also. So if that works, i could hide the wp default theme search and use it.

WP search doesn't have any relation to wpForo Search so they don't find result. You should have two search forms, one for website one for forum. There is no site-wide search yet. I'll update this topic once we take it under consideration.

Hi @robert. Are there any changes in this direction? Maybe wpForo has some search hook to integrate its search results into WP search results?
