We were using PeepSo wpForo Integration by Craftpress for syncing the profiles. Around Christmas this was giving random messages to the notification system from Peepso, and i think our "unread" problem started by then.
I've deactivated of course and now we are using the PeepSo wpForo Integration from WbCOM.
The Craftpress website is also inactive so maybe they stopped working on this plug-in?

There's also another plug-in that is not entirely of our "suspect list".

We experience 3 problems where I am not sure if they are related or not

1. Users have a list of unread topics. About 50% of these topics have an url without a post-id, so it just goes to the first message of the thread. 

2. From the list of unread topics, for topics that do have a post-id, it just goes to the first message, not to the post from the id. This only happens if the topic has more then 1 page of messages

3. We're testing it now on a new installation, only wp and wpforo and in the beginning it went fine. Then someone hit the Mark All Read button and then it just goes totally random.
Does it have something to do with having posted yourself in the thread or not? Sometimes it looks like after the MAR-button you have to post first in the thread to get good results again.

What are you looking for and why you think this configuration still doesn't work 100%?

Why you think it should not have #post-id at the end? What is wrong with that? It designed to show the #post-id, so it is correct. I cannot follow you. Please try to explain with a few sentences (not a large text) and make sure the options are configured like it's mentioned above.

It's not working. At the moment, also not with the "new" setting added.

In the meantime I set up a test environment with only WP and WPForo, nothing else (like peepso and bridge). We're testing that right now. So far so good, it works. But I need more posts and users to make it substantial. If it keeps on going well I'll slowly add plug-ins to find out if it's in there.

The point is, throughout our entire test phase this wasn't a problem at all. Then I went live and the problem popped up after several 1000 of posts and 100's of users.

I have to get this problem fixed, one way or the other. Users don't want to read because it takes them to many clicks.

Then enable the "Jump to First Unread Post with Button in Topic Link" option as well. And delete all caches.

There is no 50% result for any options. All options works 100%. It depends on your checking. You're forgetting which topic has unread post which doesn't. Just click the button in the footer and check all new topics.

Make sure the topic are created by other users. Even if you're loggedin with other user the browser will keep information about the read topics, so the test should be real with real different user and different browser.

If you want to go to first unread post, please do this configuration in Forums > Settings > Features Tab and delete wpForo cache in Forums > Dashboard admin page:

• Yes | Log Viewed Forums and Topics
• Yes | Track Forum and Topic Current Viewers
• Yes | Topic Links Jump to First Unread Post
• No | Jump to First Unread Post with Button in Topic Link

And don't care about the page ID. It doesn't need page ID, it'll redirect and open correct post in correct page with post-id only. Just make sure the red marked options are enabled and try to click the links of topics. You'll see that all works fine, and it goes to correct post with the correct page (even if the page number doesn't exist in the URL).
