I always wanted to report this, full forgot about it all the time.
In my Thunderbird windows email client, in the "you have been mentioned" email, the url is not linked. Seeing the text source of the email i see why. There is no correct format, with target, a href, etc. Just the url.
All the other emails from wpForo are correct.
Also maybe this is missing from the header:
Content-Transfer-Encoding: 8bit
