My issue is that we don't want that avatar used for the forum. The existing default avatar is designed for use with professionals in a directory.

What I'm looking for is the ability to direct wpForo to a separate default avatar. Is this an option?

Setting the avatar is in the core WordPress settings, which can be managed in the Dashboard > Settings > Discussion admin page.

Alternatively, you can use a different plugin for this purpose.
