I haven't changed any setting, I just updated to 1.5.5, so therefore:

1. wpForo Spam Control is enabled. -- It was and it still is.

2. user is New (under hard spam control) during first X posts option's value is not 0. -- It was always 1 (one) and it still is.

3. also, I'd recommend increasing spam suspicion levels... -- It is irrelevant with regards to "New user hard spam control". Hard spam control should work regardless of what the suspicion levels are. That's why it's "hard".

Please navigate to Dashboard > Forums > Tools admin page. Make sure:

1. wpForo Spam Control is enabled.

2. user is New (under hard spam control) during first X posts option's value is not 0.

3. also, I'd recommend increasing spam suspicion levels:

Spam Suspicion Level for Topics
Spam Suspicion Level for Posts

Hi,

I installed the 1.5.5 update, and now moderation does not work at all. A new user just registered, posted a new topic and it just went straight through, no moderation whatsoever.

Also, try to set the new user control until 5. And enable Akismet.

Thanks for confirming, I'm not alone then.

This essentially makes moderation pointless, it seems rapid-fire spammers figured this out already as it is getting more and more frequent.

I haven't experienced anything as such. May be because my website is very new. However, I want to add this is really serious issue and needs to be fixed soon.

Same thing has been happening to me for quite awhile now. I have it set to 2 posts under moderation, but often they post their 2, which go into moderation, but then they keep posting and anything after the first 2 messages go live for all to see.
