1) I want to keep the RSS feeds BUT, only include things that are marked as GUEST readable.

2) I want to shut off any "links" / downloads attachments that are in the topic.

I don't want to change the core code for this.  I was hoping that this would be available inside the GUI settings (I assumed that RSS feeds would "play nice" with the security settings and visibility of roles, but nope, it doesn't do it that way).

Help?

Thanks

It already works like that, private information are not available in rss. Make sure you test it as guest and make sure you make correct settings in forum permission settings. Guest Usergroup should have No Access in all forums which are private (not only in parent forums, also in child forums). After any configuration, don't forget delete forum and website cache. The forum cache is separate and located in Dashboard > Forums > Dashboard admin page.

Hi Robert,

I did test it as guest.  I set the forum to "view topics but not replies" as guest, but it did not mask out the replies.  I will test it again.  I will check the No Access in all forums that are private.  that part I was unaware of.  Yes, I will check the cache mechanisms.

Thanks for the awesome product, Love it.

Dan

This only works if the forum is not available for guest, the "view forum" and the "view topics" should be disabled. If a guest can see forum and topics then it he can see all RSS feeds of these forums and topics. The view reply permission is deprecated and will be removed soon.

Oh boy, I am really really sorry to hear that.  I am setting up a forum with paid access.  I need Google Bots, and Guests to "see the topics" but not be able to see the replies without paying for membership.  If you take away that permission entirely, then how do I accomplish this goal??  Should I switch immediately to a different forum software?

Thanks,

Dan
