The issue with connecting to twitter should be checked yet. I already provided twitter suggestion to stop any data transfer, please read attentive the last part of my message, this has no relation to cookies. So I'm closing this topic here.

I appreciate your effort, but under GDPR you need a good justification to share user data (like his IP address). Since the sharing functionality is not essential for the functioning forum, enabling it by default and without prior consent is most likely not compliant, even if you put it into your privacy policy (which you have to do anyways).

Since I am European, this is too much of a risk. But it's ok, I can live without the sharing functionality.

But I appreciate your help and that you took your time to try to resolve this problem.

This doesn't have any relation to the Cookie Policy. This related to data sharing policy. And this is covered in wpForo Privacy Policy template. Please see the doc, we created forum core specific Privacy policy template to let you know how wpForo work with that. You can find it in Dashboard > Forums > Tools > Privacy & Rules admin page. You just need to enable it or use that content in your website Privacy Policy page.

Also, according to Twitter Privacy, you may choose whether Twitter widgets on your site help to tailor content and suggestions for Twitter users. You can opt out of having information from your website used for personalization by following the instruction below.

Include the following snippet within the elements on your pages that include Twitter for Websites widgets, just put this in your theme header.php after tag:

Ok, but if a connection to Twitter is made, the problem still persists. A connection to Twitter would send the IP of the user over to their servers. The IP address is considered personal data and can therefore not be sent around without proper justification.

The only solution then is to disable the sharing functionality. Tho I still don't understand why there must be a connection to Twitter at all. A simple sharing link would be enough.

This is just nothing. This is just an empty space created to test by Twitter. For more info please contact to Tweeter support team. This is not created by wpForo for sure, and this doesn't content any cookie for sure.

@robert So what exactly is this if it's not a cookie? Because it still only appears when I activate the Twitter sharing option.

Yes, but click on that and see what's in it. It should be empty if you cleared all cookies before checking. The domain doesn't matter, if it doesn't have content then the cookie is empty.

This cookie appears as soon as I enable Twitter sharing in the wpForo settings.

There is no any filter, just delete all cookies form the tweeter domain and refresh wpForo how any time you want, you'll see it'll always be empty, the tweeter cookies come from tweeter website when you got to there. So they have no any relation to wpForo.
