Yes, the admin bar I think should be active for the admin at all times.
We like it to show for all since they can get confused... "where do I find my profile" etc, etc.
Having there all the time helps reduce emails.

But isn't is supposed to show for admins anyway regardless of the option in the forum to hide for other users? Not sure I'd want another plugin to fix what is possibly an issue with the forum hiding the admin bar for all, even the site admin.

Plug in that shows it all the time.

How do you still have the link to the main profile? - my wordpress admin bar has gone, even for admins.

At the moment you only can disable this by editing wpforo/wpf-includes/wpf-hooks.php file.

Fine this line:

add_filter( 'edit_profile_url', 'wpforo_change_default_edit_user_page', 10, 3 );

Change to this:

//add_filter( 'edit_profile_url', 'wpforo_change_default_edit_user_page', 10, 3 );

We'll add new option to disable edit profile URL overwriting by wpForo.

That has all been done.
Even when I log in as ADMIN... the upper right profile link still links to /forum/ so there is no way to see your "regular" wordpress profile. Hope that makes sense.

Please make sure the settings looks like this in Forums > Settings > Members admin page:
