So far, totally disabling Breeze and Varnish, I see no visible slow down in site performance, but I also see no improvement in seeing the forum avatars either.

My site is still rather small with 48 pages, 140 blog posts, and the forum in 10 months, but I do expect it to grow. So far, I have used Bluehost, SiteGround and now Cloudways. Cloudways has been a vast improvement over the other two which were slow, and with Bluehost my site was often totally unavailable, but Bluehost and SiteGound were shared hosting. So, like I said yesterday, you get what you pay for.

I don't mind playing around with different settings, tools, etc. Rome wasn't built in a day. Today, I think most folks want the immediate fix to website problems, not realizing how complicated it is trying to get all the different aspects to coordinate and play nice.

You do realize that i m just guessing things remotely :)

As for the rest, 99% of the issues i see here (and in other complicated plugins like wpForo) come from optimizations. So i think that any kind of caching and optimizations would be the last step of a stable site. You can't debug a heavily optimized Wordpress with plugins.

And if you need optimizations for your site to be reasonably fast, then switch to an other hosting. Slowness happens to medium and large sites.

Cloudways cache de is a header which is passed when breeze and varnish work together. Even though I excluded the forum from being cached in both breeze and varnish, there recommendation was to totally disable breeze and varnish if I want the Cloudways cache de to stop functioning.

This may or may not solve the problem with my forum, but if it does, the trade off will be a slower loading of pages, one reason I went to Cloudways in the first place.

Although, testing is not a bad thing. So, I am going to fully disable Breeze and Varnish caches and see what the result s are as far as forum performance and site speed. I can always reverse course, right?

I had someone optimize my site when I hosted with SiterGround b/c it was so slow. Didn't help much. Then, I migrated over to Cloudways.

And you never optimize a new website. Optimization of any kind (if needed) is the last step for a finished and stable site.

I spoke with Cloudways support. Their reply was: What is CLOUDWAYS-CACHE-DE?  I gave them the full text of your post and they asked me to get back to you with:

1. Please ask them what they actually mean by cloudways cache de

2. The URL is CND URL. It looks like some css file being served by Cloudways CDN

Hope you understand what they are looking for, because they seem stymied by your post.

Not sure what this is and if this is causing problems, still looks like somekind of optimization to me.
