Hey there I have 3 questions...

1. When I go to: Forums > Settings>  Features>

Replace Login Page URL to Forum Login Page URL ...

This option doesn't work for me and still takes me to the wp-login default page. I have the default login WP widget placed on my website's home page, and I expected to to load the WpForo login page instead of wp-login WHEN A USER ENTER WRONG CREDENTIALS for example .. It doesn't it load wp-login and tells them they have enetered wrong credentials there. However, Replace Registration Page URL to Forum Registration Page URL THAT ONE WORKS FINE FOR ME , just need help with the login plz.

2. Using elementor I don't see a widget to show logged in user avatar ?! I see other widgets to show Recent Posts, topics, online members and search, keep in mind that for all those widgets there is an option to show avatars of members who posted and online members. I need to be able to show Only the avatar of the logged in member on my home front page, is there anything that will allow me to do so ?

3. When a new user signs up, they get an email to set thier new password, I have tried it myself and created registered an account, got the confirmation email, clikced to on the link to set a new password, it worked but took me to a 404 page not found page after setting the new password ??!! how can prevent this 404 from happening ?

Hey there I have 3 questions...

1. When I go to: Forums > Settings>  Features>

(1) Replace Login Page URL to Forum Login Page URL ...

This option doesn't work for me and still takes me to the wp-login default page.

Hi @moenagy.

(#1) The "Replace Login Page URL to Forum Login Page URL" should be set to YES, if that is what you want.  (If you want to use the Forums Login Page)

(#2)  I have the default login WP widget placed on my website's home page, and I expected to to load the WpForo login page instead of wp-login WHEN A USER ENTER WRONG CREDENTIALS for example .. It doesn't it load wp-login and tells them they have enetered wrong credentials there.

(#2) Unfortunately, technology doesn't work with our expectations.  🙂 On the above (#1) You changed the settings to use the wpForo Login, and in the next sentence you typed, you have set it to do the exact opposite, by your using "the default login WP widget placed on my website's home page, and I expected to to load the WpForo login page instead of wp-login."

So if you "really want" to use the wpForo LOGIN, you need to remove the default login WP widget placed on your website's home page, or you can manually add a Menu Link for the LogIn, and use the wpforo Log in Code, like so:

/%wpforo-login%/

More info on that is here:

https://wpforo.com/docs/root/getting-started/forum-menu/

2. Using elementor I don't see a widget to show logged in user avatar ?! I see other widgets to show Recent Posts, topics, online members and search, keep in mind that for all those widgets there is an option to show avatars of members who posted and online members. (#3) I need to be able to show Only the avatar of the logged in member on my home front page, is there anything that will allow me to do so ?

(#3) - Try this in order to show only the Avatars on your Online Users.

1) Go to WordPress Dashboard

2) Select Appearance

3) Widgets

4) Select wpForo Sidebar

5) Select the "wpForo Online Members

6) Then from the dropdown, select the "Sidebar" (so it appears on your Homepage's Sidebar), then the "Add Widget" button.

7) Then open the same "wpForo Online Members" widget, and there is an option there that would let you either select just the "UserName" to appear, OR the "Display Avatars".  If you don't click the "Display Avatars" box, Only the Usernames will appear.  But if you click the "Display Avatars" box, then only the Avatars will appear.  (Or at least that's how it works in my Forum.  But I don't use Elementor).

3. When a new user signs up, they get an email to set thier new password, I have tried it myself and created registered an account, got the confirmation email, clikced to on the link to set a new password, (#4) it worked but took me to a 404 page not found page after setting the new password ??!! how can prevent this 404 from happening ?

(#4) - might be happening because of Item (#1) and (#2) above. Just decide which "Login" page you really want to use (whether wpForo or WP) because the "Registration page and Lost password" pages are all inter-related.  Decide which one you want to use.    If you decide to follow (#2), then you can test it again.

Hope this helps.  Good luck and God bless you!  🙂

Hi @moenagy.  You might be getting the 404 because your settings are confused!  🙂  Make sure that if you are using the wpForo Login URL, that you are also using the wpForo Replace Password URL.  That's why I wrote to remove the WP Login widget that you said you have on your Home Page.

Here, I will share with you how I set up mine, just copy it and then test it again.  Don't forget to click the "Update Options" at the bottom too, after you copied my settings in the attached screenshot.  In case it still doesn't work, post your website name here, and I will take a look.  🙂

@crisw  look , here is what I just notice, right after setting the new user password, it seems that I see think link in the URL bar :

www.icodetheweb.com/community/-login/?wpforo=signin

which means that it redirects to WpForo login page while the user is already been logged in , there for can't load the login page and comes up with the 404 ... I guess i'd need it go to Forums home instead of login after setting the new password .. how can I do that ?

Hi @moenagy. I think it is an "either" "or" here.  Your settings is causing the 404 error.  Here's my last explanation.

If you use WP Login the link will go to the file wp-admin.php of your main website like so.
https: // www . YOUR WEBSITE . com/wp-admin.php
and this LogIn Page has a corresponding link to the WP Password Reset Page.

If you choose wpForo Login, the link will go to: forum/?wpforo=signin
https: // www . YOUR WEBSITE . com/ forum/?wpforo=signin which also has a corresponding wpForo Reset page.

This works like a "REDIRECTION".

If you have an active WP Login, on your HomePage you can't expect it to automatically lead to a wpForo Password Reset.  Since your Forum Settings was set to YES to "Replace the URL from WP LOGIN to wpForo Login"   the WP Login on your Homepage, is not finding the WP Password Reset Page.

You are having the 404 because you are using a link to the WP-Login wp-admin.php, on your Homepage, and if you click the reset password on it, it is not finding the corresponding WP Password Reset page (since in your Forum settings, you have the YES to "Replace the LogIn page to Forum Login Page".

The YES to "Replace the LogIn page to Forum Login Page" will OVERRIDE the WP Login, that is why it's leading to a 404, when you click the WP Login page, password reset from your HomePage.

If you want to get rid of the 404, then decide which LogIn Page you want to use.  You can then select the NO settings on the Forum if you want to just use the WP-Login and WP Password Reset pages.

I suggested earlier to delete the WP Login widget on your homepage because you wrote initially that you wanted to use the wpForo Login.  Also, whether or not you use the WP Login or the wpForo Login, it leads to the same WP Dashboard.  🙂

Good luck.
