If I import a forum from SMF, but the usernames are different for the same user, how can I pair them? Are checks done or are the users imported as is?

.. General Discussion board on SMF somehow becomes a category.. I noticed after importing that all the topics/posts were imported.. but the main board for it was missing.. in the database changing the is_cat to 0 and setting ;parentid to actual parent board brings it back.. but overall it didn't put things in the same category>board order that was on SMF.

so that was fixed.. but not good for import that just works.

the main thing now is getting attachments and avatars to be imported... instructions are unclear...

do the attachment files in smf need to all be in this directory?
...uploads/wpforo/attachments/

and same with the avatars many avatars are in seperate folders in smf ie /avatars/3D-Avatars etc.. so does that mean on migration those files need all be in the

...uploads/wpforo/attachments/ folder or do I move the folders they are in from SMF to that attachment folder?

I've kinda tried different things but nothing works with avatars that are stored on SMF as uploaded ones or attachments.

Also what other addons does wpForo need for avatars or should say what other Wordpress addons work best with wpForo that should be installed aswel.. like buddypresss? etc why is attachments for wpForo an upgrade? is that addon needed for attachments to be imported in from SMF?

Migration Error SMF to Wpforo

I am evaluating Wpforo as a potential solution for a existing SMF forum - I'd much rather run it all under Wordpress and Wpforo looks just the job... however I've done one previous migration test locally it took a while but it seemed to work on the older version of Wpforo.

I'm now using Wpforo 2.0.8 and migration tool V3.0.0 and keep getting the "Migrate2wpForo Notice: We can't find this board on this system" notice - is there an error log somewhere that might give me some clues?

I've tried deactivating and re-activating Wpforo and the migration tool to no effect. Before I do the migration I get "Ok" on database connection and tables, and nothing seems out of whack so not sure what the issue is?

I need the migration tool to work - without it moving to Wpforo is a non-starter so its key I get this sorted.

This is all localhost installation at the moment for dev evaluation. Any help appreciated.

Considering migrating from SMF

I have a fairly big SMF forum that I'm considering migrating to WpForo and I've kicked off a test migration to see how it goes. The migration is running on production sized servers but it's looking like it will probably take 48 hours to complete. The servers (database and web) don't seem to be stressed with CPU/disk/network all running at less than 25% capacity so I'm wondering what the bottleneck is, i.e. is there any way for me to make it go faster?

Alternatively is the migration iterative, e.g. if I run the migration whilst the current SMF forum is still operational, if I then re-run the migration again when the 'big' migration has finished, will it just migrate any new users/posts/attachments since the 'big' migration finished?

Secondly, I note that polls and private messages are addons to WpForo. My existing forum has both of those being actively used. If I purchase/install the addons before the migration, does Go2WpForo migrate polls/PMs or is there no way to migrate them?

Hi, I also have quite a big forum on SMF.

Which plugins are best to buy and install on WPForo before I start the migration with the SMF2WPForo conversion tool ?

If I buy also the Email addon, will the tool also convert the old private Mails from the Forum ?

I need Youtube embeds and storing picture attachments and File attachments like PDF Files...

If I have bought these addons, will the conversion run then smoother or can the addons also bought after the migration tool has run ? ( Just to see, if the migration will work at all..)

Hi:

I have an SMF forum, and it's a really one.

Database is around 1.8 Gb ... and Attachaments, well, around 4 Tb.

I will migrate to wpForo, because I love it, I tried it on another forum I have and wow, I love it, so if I could migrate my big one, I'll buy all addons and advanced features.

Now the question: Do yo uthink I'll be able to migrate my forum to wpForo ?

Someone did that?...

Is there some recommendation before I do that?... Except to making backups, becouse I´m backuping all at real time (mirrors)

I keep getting the error on the last step, we cannot find this board.

I am assuming when I click the automated button to fill in the data for database host name etc is wrong? I just click the button at the bottom that auto fills it and says status ok ok then next step cannot find this board on the last page.

Is it where my wpforo is? or my smf info. If anyone can help me find the info its asking for such as

database host, database username, database password, database name, database table prefix, database table ssecond prefix

Hi,

Is there a way to migrate straight from SMF2.x forum to wpForo?

I have a rather large SMF forum with a database around 250Mb and would like to move away from SMF as it is increasingly unreliable and I am repairing the database almost on a monthly basis.

Our website is on wordpress and has been very stable. It makes sence moving forward to goto a Wordpress based forum.
