On Register/sign-up page, how to remove this checkbox or have it checked by default? 
"[] I agree to receive an email confirmation with a link to set a password."

Please navigate to the Dashboard > Forums > Tools > Privacy & Rules admin page, find and disable the " Checkbox: I Agree to Receive an Email Confirmation" option and check again.
