Hi 😉
I'm running a stand-alone forum using the revolutionary WPFORO.
Compared to other stand-alone forum such PHPBB, MYBB, SMF that I personally have tested and comfirmed, there usually have a mod, plugin or addon that displays a list of recent forum threads on forum index. So, how possible can it be to display recent topic either via a shortcode, php tag or an addon on WPforo?

Try the threaded layout for categories

Both, the Extended and Threaded layouts displays recent topics with posts under each forum. Please check wpForo forum layouts, you can use those all together on the same forum too.
