Current wpForo version doesn't have trailing slashes in forum and topic URLs, this is the reason of double redirection. Please wait for the next wpForo release, this issue is already fixed in upcoming version.

As per widget, I've already mentioned that SQL's are not optimized and it may affect the real performance of wpForo. We're currently working on widgets to make them lighter and faster.
