@emilyosburn, To be able to add topic on your forum, you need to create a new forum and under the forum option (at the right), choose a parent for your forum (You have to uncheck the "use as category" option). Then on the Front end, you will find the new forum under the parent, and you can add topic to this forum.

I do not understand how a user or an admin can post to this forum. This is where I installed it. Now, how do I begin adding topics?

Ok, I see the issue, you've updated from old Beta versions. The Shortcode is changed and you should edit this page and change [wpforo-index] to [wpforo], then delete cache and it should work fine.

Hi, I love wpforo and appreciate what you've created.

Problem I'm having: epeatedly members of my forum report that they compose posts, hit submit, only to have their entire post disappear into cyberspace.  This morning someone lost a 1,000 word post.  How to prevent this?  And is there anyway for me to recover them?

It is better to open a new topic for each problem.

Anyway, "disappear" doesn't really mean something. Enable WP DEBUG to a log to see what the error could be. And/or check within your browser for JS or other errors (in dev window). Most probably a plugin conflict is what you have.

I think they click on [Add Topic] button instead of clicking [Save] button. The [Add Topic] button clos the form so they think it's disappeared. They just need to click on this button again and it'll be opened with inserted text. We're already working on this to remove this button after clicking to avoid such misunderstandings.
