The 1.x versions are much more better. But unfortunately don't support WordPress's with different Site and Home URL. We'll add it in next release.

No chance of a workaround I suppose, but Beta 6 has been pretty good up till now so will be content if I can get back in to my forums 🙂
I can explain how this happened for me, I migrated to a new server on the new server wordpress became the root install but for some reason my changes to the wordpress database did not allow me to keep the wordpress files in the root so I symlinked the old install directory to the new install directory as a work around. so now my backend runs in the symlinked directory but my site works out of the base install directory.
The beta 6 worked for me but now my forum has a white boarder all the way around it that I cant seem to get ride of

as I mentioned above wpForo 1.x doesn't support such irregular WP installations. I recommend use Beta-6 till the next 1.0.2 release.

I did and am using Beta-6 just asking how I can get ride of the white border around the forums
