Is there a way to add a chat box onto the forum page?

Forum page is free to add any content, if your chat plugin has a shortcode you can put it in forum page content, before or after [wpforo-index] shortcode. In this case you should enable "Buffer Output" option in wpForo Settings > Features admin page.
