I've got a forum with about 500 members. I'm having an issue with the Subscribe for New topics hanging my site and causing duplicate posts.
I think all 500 of my users subscribe to my Important Announcements Forum and whenever I post a new topic it hangs for minutes and minutes and then my site goes down for 5 minutes. When it's back up I see about 5 posts of the same topic.
It's like when I post it's waiting to send emails to everyone.
I'm just wanting to turn it all off. Is there a way to clear out people that are subscribed to new topics and just turn the whole feature off? I've been looking and can't find an option like that.

This seems like your smtp mailer is causing the delay.
Yes, I think so. This is the email sender issue. It works very slow. If you have any SMTP plugin please deactivate and check it again. if you don't have any plugin related to email sending functions, then this is a email sending issue with hosting server configuration.
