Hi team.

Hoping you can help.

I have wpForo meta tags & titles enabled and although google is picking up links and topic titles it is not picking up the description.

See below example URL and I've attached how the description is currently indexing in google.

https://teacherhaven.co.uk/community/travel/favourite-countries-to-visit/

When viewing source I see the following, so not sure why this is occuring.

<!-- wpForo SEO -->
<link rel="canonical" href=" https://teacherhaven.co.uk/community/travel/favourite-countries-to-visit/ " />
<meta name="description" content="So in the spirit of the school holidays fast approaching, thought I'd check what everybody's favourite holiday destinations are to escape for a bit an..." />
<meta property="og:title" content="Favourite countries to visit" />
<meta property="og:description" content="So in the spirit of the school holidays fast approaching, thought I'd check what everybody's favourite holiday destinations are to escape for a bit an..." />
<meta property="og:url" content=" https://teacherhaven.co.uk/community/travel/favourite-countries-to-visit/ " />
<meta property="og:locale" content="en_GB" />
<meta property="og:site_name" content="Teacher Haven" />
<meta property="og:type" content="website" />
<meta name="twitter:description" content="So in the spirit of the school holidays fast approaching, thought I'd check what everybody's favourite holiday destinations are to escape for a bit an..."/>
<meta name="twitter:title" content="Favourite countries to visit" />
<meta property="twitter:card" content="summary_large_image" />
<!-- wpForo SEO End -->

Using Yoast SEO and sitemaps have been submitted to Google console.

Just want to make sure I'm not missing anything obvious, any help appreciated.

Many thanks,

Paul

Hi  @pauldoceo

We noticed that you are using Yoast SEO on your website. Therefore, we recommend excluding the wpForo pages from Yoast SEO settings. This will allow the wpForo codes to handle the header meta tags related to SEO.

But wpForo has internal code, Yoast specific, that apparently bypass Yoast. Am i wrong?

Yes, you're correct. The wpForo core includes specific code to automatically disable Yoast SEO and other popular SEO plugins on wpForo pages. However, if the WordPress admin manually overrides these settings and removes the exclusion from the settings, it might lead to conflicts. The intended behavior can only be ensured if the Yoast settings are left as configured by wpForo.

The CORRECT forums sitemap is this and NOT of Yoast 🙂
