Hi wpForo Team,

I got some feedback from my hosting provider that there is a lot of WordPress Heartbeat activity on admin-ajax.php and I might want to consider disabling it. As far as I can tell, I can live without it. But would disabling this impact wpForo?

Love the plugin. Keep up the good work.

If your hosting company told you that, then you should consider moving to a real one (unless you have a really huge and busy site).

Or install and use

https://wordpress.org/plugins/heartbeat-control/

What version of PHP you use ?

Hi @timrodman,

Most of plugins which has some function on WordPress front-end use admin-ajax.php. All ayax ections are made via admin-ajax.php. if you disable it your website will be a cripple website. The wpForo also doesn't have any chance to work on such website.

You should find the plugin who sends lots of requests to admin-ajax.php and disable it. This is the best solution. If you have plugins which do some lifetime functions, you should start checking those first. wpForo doesn't overload admin-ajax.php, it only use admin-ajax.php on like/dislike and other small actions. These kind of actions don't overload AJAX system.

Thank you both.

@anonymous20 - Sorry, I wasn't specific enough. They weren't suggesting to disable the PHP script, but to use the plugin that you mentioned.

@robert - If I use the "Heartbeat Control" plugin and use the "Disable everywhere" option mentioned in this post, will it affect wpForo?

As i said, their suggestion was not a good one UNLESS you run a big anf busy site. But in that case you should change hosting plan, simply.

There is no need to run any such plugin for anything. Maybe for a busy site under a budget hosting plan ? I dunno.

But you don't tell us much about your site ? Big ? Small ? Busy ? Shared Hosting ?
