Hello team,

I am testing out the wpforo AI forum moderation for a client before they decide to roll out and I noticed the AI spam and toxic post, replies and topics is not flagging, rather posting them to the forum. please let me know how to fix this. Thanks!

Hi @wumdev,

Thanks for reaching out! This is a common concern when first setting up AI moderation. Before we dive into troubleshooting, I'd like to clarify what you're observing. The key thing to check is whether these posts are actually being published directly to the forum, or if they're being held in a moderation queue that might not be visually obvious.

Here's a step-by-step guide to diagnose and fix the issue:

  1. Verify your subscription status: First, ensure your wpForo AI cloud subscription is active and properly connected. AI moderation features require an active cloud subscription to function. Check your account settings and confirm your API connection is established.
  2. Check the moderation queue: Posts flagged by AI moderation may be set to "Awaiting moderation" rather than being rejected outright. Look for posts with an [Approve] button or icon in your admin panel. If you see these buttons, the posts are actually queued for approval—they're not being posted live yet. The "Awaiting moderation" message display may have been customized or hidden in your theme, which can make this easy to miss.
  3. Review AI moderation settings: Confirm that AI moderation is enabled in your wpForo settings and that the toxicity and spam detection thresholds are configured appropriately. If thresholds are set too high, legitimate spam and toxic content might slip through.
  4. Test with known examples: Post some obvious test content (clearly spammy or toxic) to see if it gets flagged. This will help you determine if the system is working at all or if the issue is with sensitivity settings.

Once you've verified these points, let me know what you find—especially whether the posts are actually being held for moderation or truly being published directly. That detail will help us narrow down the exact issue!
