I'm sorry, but there is no way to add icons in widgets. You can enable topic authors avatars instead, it'll look more attractive. For the next question, please you a direct URL, where we can find this widget.

Just check the "Enable Avatars" in widget settings in Dashboard > Appearance > Widgets admin page:
