This forum is top class. Cometes and in most cases, outdoes the competition. Is it possible as a paid addon, a smart search bar would ever be available? One where after the first 3 letters are typed, the search bar starts giving recommendations as you type?..

I strongly vote against this. This particular feature puts huge load to a server.
People that suggest this, have no idea what that means in a real production site.

This is already in our to-do list. This will be available as a free feature in free core.
For now, I suggest you check out other useful wpForo features that can help you to find any information in your forum.
e.g. wpForo search system allows to filter it by date period, search in the specific forum, etc. Please check out those types.
You can also use Topic Tags, Tags Widget, Tags Search features.
