When I'm on the page "unread topic", the menu-item from "recent topics" gets highlighted as active (it also says so in the code).
It seems to be something new. I started after applying these settings.
I have no idea how this happened or what the correlation could be.

I've added a screenshot for clarification.

I'm currently running a test forum (for the other problem), and it seems that this is standard?

Yes, because you're on the "Recent Posts" page. You're viewing recent unread posts.
