I was working on a post for an hour, and when I stepped out of the room, a family member navigated to a different website and I lost the entire post. I have previously posted in textboxes where when I accidentally navigated away from the page, the content was still saved when I clicked the back button. Is there a way to implement this, or possibly autosaving drafts so that members don't have to deal with this, or power outages? Perhaps it can be included in a feature package as part of an upgrade.

I suggest to implement simply "Save draft" button, because autosave will add additional scripts to the page and will increase server load.

Thank you for your suggestion. We may use cookies for draft without spending server resources and increasing database size. But this is not planned for near future releases. maybe in a few middle versions.

Wondering if you have added a draft or autosave option for posts in the last two years. I haven't noticed it but perhaps I missed it?  Thanks!  I love the forum and so do my members.

Is the ability to save drafts planned? myself and users would love to be able to save drafts and come back to them later.

When doing longer posts this could be really helpful.

Would be great to get some feedback on this suggestion, is it planned?

As Robert already mentioned this is not planned for near future releases. We cannot provide any ETA for this yet.

I understand but Roberts message was over 2 years ago, i thought 2 years might of got you closer to "near future"

Shame it's not on your roadmap, would be helpful.

We do all our best to improve wpForo as much as possible. However, adding this feature may spend server resources, so it'll be not useful for other users of the wpForo.

Started from the wpForo 1.6.2 version, we've added the feature that prevents closing window or tab if topic/post editor is not empty.  So there is a little chance to lose the content user added in the post editor.

Roberts message seems to suggest it could be done without adding any overhead.

I'm also not talking about automatically saving the draft, only saying the draft when you click a button "Save Draft"

My use case isn't that someone accidentally closes the window... it's because someone might not have time to finish the post.

Say they are writing a guide which may take some time and half way through they need to do something else and want to come back to it the next day or week.
