Wpforo is doing a great job at detecting spammers and it will block them, yet they keep posting post that are awaiting approval each day. Sometimes multiple times a day.

Why is it when wpforo detects them as a spammer and tag's them as blocked they are still able to submit more post to be approved?

Is there a way to collect thier IP to block their IP to prevent them from returning, at least on that IP they last used?

Are there any good plugin's that can help reduce this?  As our site grows it is becoming a bigger issue, before all this would happen maybe once a month, now were up to 3-7 users a day spamming up to 15 messages/posts a day.

Thank you!

Spam is a big problem that cannot be totally eliminated. You can mitigate it, but human spam (not automatic bots) are virtually impossible to totally stop.

There are certain things you can do to greatly reduce spam, but oftentimes these things also might prevent legitimate site users from interacting with it normally if you are not careful.

Check this out for instructions on how to help with spam in wpForo:

WHAT I HAVE DONE

Another thing I have found to help prevent spam greatly is making it, so registration on your site is not possible using the traditional e-mail/password type of registration.

What I have done in one of my big sites is ALL registrations must be done using a "Social Media  Button", while regular registration has been disabled on WordPress. I set up a special page for registration with all the social media buttons there. We still allow the regular sign-in page for WordPress to function, so users who previously registered using an email and password can still do so. This page also helps them recover passwords or unlink their social accounts from our site if they wish to do so by simply changing their account password.

It's very hard for real human spammers this way as they must use real social media accounts to be able to send spam on our site, they cannot just register using random e-mail addresses.

The process to registering accounts in social media is harder to create for them too, as these companies have strong spam detection systems.

Hope this helps you.
