Is there a way to disable notification emails from a particular forum or topic? I have setup a "Test Forum" for members to try out new features and don't want those posts to generate email notifications, even if someone is subscribed.

Really it would be best to prevent subscriptions to the forum or posts.

Hi,

The wpForo has a built-in Subscription Manager that makes managing subscriptions/ /unsubscriptions easy. You can find it under My Profile > Subscriptions.

I guess I wasn't clear. That is fine for members to manage their own subscriptions.

As an admin, I want to be able to prevent subscriptions and the email notifications for a particular forum or topic.

@memphisguru,
In wpForo, to disable subscriptions and email notifications for a particular forum or topic, an admin can manage permissions related to subscriptions. Specifically, you can disable the "Can subscribe" permission for a user group in the Forum Access settings. For example, if you want users in the "Registered" group not to receive notifications even if they subscribe, go to wpForo > Accesses admin page, edit the access level (like Standard Access), and uncheck the "Can subscribe" permission. This will prevent users in that group from subscribing and receiving notifications for topics or forums they do not have access to.

Additionally, individual users can turn off email notifications for topics they started by adjusting their profile settings, but this is user-controlled rather than admin-controlled.

There is no direct setting to disable subscriptions or notifications for a specific single topic, but controlling subscription permissions by user group and forum access is the way to manage this at a broader level.

I was able to get this done, but it's a little different than described earlier, here are the steps in case anyone is looking for this.

  1. Create a new permissions group with the same permissions as the "Registered" group, with a name like "No Subscriptions", and uncheck the "Can subscribe" box. Save the new group.
  2. Then go to the forum you want to prevent subscriptions, edit, and select the "No Subscriptions" group for the Registered role in the forum.
  3. Then clear forum caches in wpForo Admin.
