I am using Ruby theme, and just set my forum up and new to the software. I have some questions but mainly how can I make the forum show up on my phone? I've attached a screenshot.
Thank you so much!
Hi @machelle . I just checked your website, and I don't see your Forum.
If I may suggest, do the following:
1) Create a new WP Page (WP Dashboard > Pages > Add New) On the title type "Forum"
2) Then on the contents, type the wpForo shortcode, like so,
[wpforo]
3) Then click the Publish button.
4) Then on the Front End of your website, type:
https://www.vialogos.faith/ forum
(the forum, is the new page you just created)
5) Press Control F5 twice, on the Front End to make sure you do a hard refresh of your website.
6) So your forum should appear again.
7) Also, you might want to review the Documentation on Category and Forums at:
https://wpforo.com/docs/root/categories-and-forums/category-vs-forums/
8) And also Usergroups and Permissions:
https://wpforo.com/docs/root/members/usergroups-and-permissions/
The wpForo forum works right out of the box without so much tweaking, however, like in any other plugin - since there are WP themes and plugins created by different developers, sometimes there are conflicts. Also, if the "default" wpForo settings are customized too much, it's also easy to have "user errors" for those who are not quite familiar yet with the software.
So, good luck and God bless you! 🙂
So I'm guessing I have to create "new usergroup", but what permissions do you give this category? I'm confused because the other usergroups are understandable but this one is a guest??? or a new user??? Why do I need this group?
Hi @machelle .
You don't have to create a new Usergroup. What Sofy on the post above suggested was to get familiar with how the Forum "Permissions" are configured.
So, looking at your first screenshot in your above original post, in the "Forum Statistics" of your screenshot, it shows you have 5 Forums and 2 Topics.
In your Forum Dashboard, double check the Usergroups. I took a screenshot of my forum and sharing below:
These are the 4 default Usergroups. Their default settings is as follows, too. Go check EACH CATEGORY, and then EACH FORUM. When the GUEST ACCESS is set to "No Access" then the topics on that specific Category, or Forum will not display on the Front End. Maybe that's why it's not appearing on your site. So for public forums, make sure Guest Usergroup is "Read Access".
So if you compare the settings on the screenshot below, just copy that settings on your Forum, then click the "Update" button and then the Control F5 twice on your Front End site to see if it changes anything. Or also browse your site using Incognito Mode.
Here's a screenshot of my default Forum Permission Settings: Notice that on the GUEST Usergroup it has "Read Only" access.
