I have already set the Forum>settings>topics&posts>Extended layout-recent posts to collapsed but this doesn't have any effect.
When someone visits the forum the recent topics are extended by default and I want them collapsed.
I notice the magician Mcutting has it cracked with his great site  https://inocul8r.net/session/community/

There is an according option in Dashboard > Forums > Settings > Forums admin page.
