How do I tab the categories into the forum titles as a drop down?
I want to make my page not as long.

I'm sorry, but I don't follow you well. If my answer below is not the one you expected, please explain in other words using some screenshots.
First of all, I suggest you check out wpForo Simplified Layout:

If you use Extended Layout or/and Question & Answer Layout, you can set Recent Topics collapsed in Forums > Settings > Forums admin page. More info here:
