Hi @robert,

Just curious as to how this will sit the the pending GDPR regulation...

It seems that the GDPR (de)regulation is already creating a havoc to most site owners/companies.

In MY Country a new business is growing. "GDPR" consultants, using funding from EU. Lawyers mostly.

So this new c**p is just a new trick from the Brussels lobbies, in order to re-distrubute money to their "friends", laywers and other firms.

The EU didn't LEARN something from the COOKIES c**p, they continue to even more "laws", that for any of us dosn't make any sense.

For example what happens if I ask wpForo to delete all my posts ? Am i entitled to do so ? How this will happen ? Who will do it ? Can i just remove the poster name and keep the data ?

Havoc.

You have a good point, @anonymous20, but it's a legal regulation nonetheless - certainly in the UK with fines for non-compliance/ Trust me, it's a complete NIGHTMARE.

Sure, i understand. And also an extra cost in time and money, that small companies will have a hard time to manage.

@anonymous20 - tell me about it. I'm the CISO and CIO for a financial services firm in the UK, and it's a huge money spinner for these so called "experts". Quite how you can be an "expert" in a regulatory requirement which isn't even live or legally binding yet is beyond me 🙂

Not being a European I am not 100% sure so perhaps someone could enlighten me; do you not also have "competing" data retention laws that would be in conflict with the requirements of GDPR? Where I am one would be in deep @@@ if one deleted content and the cybercrime division came knocking with subpoenas.

Rather than deleting forum content which affects other users too I foresee a pseudo-anonymising tool being developed.
