Hi , first at all congrats with your fantastic plugin , finally a WP plugin which looks like a full Forum!
I have an airshow website and main purpose of the forum is posting photos , is it possible to open the posted images in a Lightbox pop-up instead of opening them in a new tab and can remove the attachment function?

wpForo doesn't have lightbox feature yet. You can use WordPress ightbox plugins, they may help.
Also you can turn default attachments to show images instead of download link using a piece code mentioned her: https://wpforo.com/community/how-to-and-troubleshooting-2/uploading-and-embedding-images/#post-5212
You can disable "Attach File" in access roles on Dashboard > Forums > Settings > Forum Accesses admin page.

This code is not for lightbox. I recomended to use WordPress lighbox plugins in my last post. This code is only for replacing attached file download link to an image.
