Hello wpForo Support,
I may be missing something simple, but I have spent quite a lot of time trying to understand how these permissions interact.

I am trying to configure permissions on my forum and I am a bit confused by the current behavior.

I have a forum section called “Équipage Pleines Voiles”.
My goal is the following:

  1. Members of Équipage Pleines Voiles should have Standard access in this forum.

  2. Members of Équipage Lecture should have fewer permissions than Pleines Voiles, not more.

  3. I would also like to disable the possibility for members to use like/dislike reactions on posts (or at least disable it for non-admin users).

At the moment, I do not understand why:

  • Équipage Pleines Voiles seems to be assigned Read only access

  • while Équipage Lecture appears to have Standard access

This seems reversed compared to the intended structure of my community.

Could you please clarify:

  1. Where exactly can I change the access of Équipage Pleines Voiles from Read only access to Standard access?

  2. Why might another group such as Équipage Lecture currently have broader permissions than Pleines Voiles?

  3. Is this controlled by:

    • the Usergroup

    • the Forum Access Permissions

    • the Paid Memberships Pro forum restrictions

    • or a combination of these?

  4. How can I disable like/dislike for members?

    • ideally for all members

    • or alternatively for all non-admin users only

I also tried handling the reactions with CSS, but this only hides icons and does not solve the permission logic.

If useful, I can send screenshots of:

  • my usergroups

  • the forum edit screen

  • the current access mappings

Thank you very much for your help.

Best regards,
Aïmata Guillain
