Any reason why I have two sitemaps generated? Which one will be kept updated and I should submit to Google? 

example.com /discuss/topic-sitemap1.xml

example.com.com /discuss/topic-sitemap.xml

You should only add the example.com /discuss/sitemap.xml. It's already includes the rest of sitemaps.
