I am trying to manage the forum as I have added my first post and need to approve it. The WPForo menu is not present in the dash board on the left hand side of the screen. Please help.

Please navigate to Dashboard > Users > Your Profile admin page, scroll down and find the wpForo Usergroup option. make sure it's set admin.
Just click on update user data on this page. Also please let me know what WordPress is this? Is this a multi-site installation?
Thank you, I have a profile that superseded my original admin profile. Not sure how, but I got the forum working.
