The What's New Page page would be https://wpforo.com/community/recent/ ? If so, even if you change the settings in admin, nothing happens in fronted.

It's not /recent/ it's /recent-activity/
The menu item of What's New page should be added to your forum automatically if you've installed latest beta version. If you don't see the menu item then you can add it manually. Go to Dashboard > Appearance > Menus admin page, select the wpForo Navigation Menu, then add the new item using "Custom Links" type:
- URL: /%wpforo-recent-activity%/
- Link Text: What's New
Example: https://wpdiscuz.com/community/recent-activity/

The page works if I type the URL, but it hasn't been added to the menu.

This is a 3.0 feature. There is no such feature in 2.0 versions.
