My forum is on a subdomain and wpForo is only installed on that subdomain.
I want to highlight forum activity from the subdomain on the main site, where Foro is not installed. Ideally, I want something like the recent posts widget in the sidebar.
Is there any way of displaying the recent posts on the main domain where Foro is not installed, or any workaround?

I'm sorry, but it's not possible. The websites have different databases, and they don't have access to each other, so there is no way to show some data from one WordPress in another WordPress. It requires lots of custom codding for both websites.
Update for anyone looking to do this.
I just left the RSS feed on and used a feed reader widget on my other site. to pull in the most recent post.
Not going to promote anything here but I recommend looking into a 3rd party plugin, the RSS reader included with WP is just too basic.
