Sorry for the delayed response. We got lots of topic posts and some of those may be missed. This is a good idea but it's not a quick feature. Like the wpDiscuz Emoticons addon we may also release such a feature as an Addon. Currently its on planning stage. I'll update this topic once I got some news for you.

The wpDiscuz Emotiocns its a nice addon... but i prefer the native emojis, is more faster and friendly with the mobile devices 🙂 I keep and eye in the progress. All the luck!
