Is it possible to only allow invited users to a chatroom?

No yet. Currently we're preparing "wpForo - Private Messages" addon. I think this will be the one you're looking for.

Looks like its up now... But, it also looks like it has a separate login or does that integrate with the forum I want to put it into?
