Does anyone have a forum using that add-on that I can look at? It seems to me it could be adapted to provide an LMS for my small org.

This is not the right place to ask that question. This is the wpForo support forum. Here we only support the wpForo plugin. All questions related to the wpForo paid add-ons should be asked in the gVectors.com support forum in the corresponding subforum.
