Hi,

Newbie alert!!!!

I used the tool to port from a phpBB into wpforo as my old phpBB for is getting too old and I'd like to integrate it with a wp page I already have. I thought wpforo could be a good solution for that.

The tool said everything went well in the process. I have few thousand users and a bunch of subforos and quite a lot of attachments.

Now, when I'm in the wp dashboard and I go to visit forum and it goes to the /community I get

Not Found

The requested URL /wordpress/index.php was not found on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

I just can't find the foro... where is it? How do I see it?

Is this a common error?

Any insight is welcome.

Thanks,

Regards,

Hipo

Hi,

I'm sure I'm doing something totally idiotic. Thanks for checking into this.

It is trying to go here: http://ksetlist.com/journal/community/

http://ksetlist.com/journal/ is where I have my wp page.

Regards,

Hipo

Hi,

Thanks for the reply. I am not a php or wordpress expert as it is obvious so excuse my ignorance.

NOTE: When I end up in the Categories and Forums page I can see ALL my subforums in there. It seems that the port actually happened correctly. It also lists all my users... it all looks good. Yeah, some things out of order... but minor stuff.

I wonder if all of this is that my directories are weird. For example, I don't have anything under a /wordpress directory... I put it originally in a different directory. In my server, I have mywpdirectory/ in the root directory, and that's the directory where I installed all wp.

So, my question is, where is the forum actually living? I can see where I put my Forum Base URL, but, if I look via FTP in the directory that it's written there, well, it does not exist.

It tries to go to: mywpdirectory/community that does not even exist.

Inside  /mywpdirectory there are only 3 subdirectories:

wp-includes

wp-content

wp-admin

On the other hand, if I go deep inside the directories, plugins/wp_foro I eventually see actual wp-foro files. If I try to access them via browser I get nothing though.

So here's the question, what should I put in the Forum Base URL so that it actually goes to the forum?

Thanks,

Regards,

Fran

Hi,

A little update in case there are other people like me.

Finally I was able to migrate from the Godaddy old Linux host to the new CPanel one, also in Godaddy. And, guess what, the wp-foro IS THERE NOW!

Some of the subforums were not in the right order but I was able to reorder it very easily. My 4000+ users are all there and all the topics are also there!!! The guys that wrote the porting tool did a great job!

The only apparent problem I have right now is the attachments are no where to be found... so, I'll have to see where they were in the old forum and where they are supposed to be in the new one... not sure if this is a common problem or just a particular case of mine.

But, big thanks for the forum and the migration tool. It's great to finally have control of the website and the forum both in WP directly. Things are way easier to manage there. Also, the forum is now mobile friendly and all the good things of WP. AWesome!
