I have the main forum page setup with the subforums but when I cliak on a subforum it goes to the attached page

Please uninstall (not just deactivate) and install it again. It'll remove all your settings. Maybe you've done some wrong changes. Also make sure you use SEO friendly URL structure in Dashboard > Settings > Permalinks admin page. Find wpForo Base URL in Dashboard > Forums > Settings admin page and open it, make sure the forum home exists. Make sure Forum page contains [wpforo] shortcode and make sure you don't have other forum plugins activated.
