I'm having some issue with spam signups. Is there any way to add reCAPTCHA to the registration page? Or is there anything else I can do to mitigate this problem?
Also is there any way to set up the forum to notify me when new users register?

wpForo is not compatible with CAPTCHA plugins yet, we're currently working on this. But you can use antispam plugins which control user registration.

I don't have an exact recommendations for Anti-spam plugins, you should read reviews and check the popularity.
