Hello,

I would like to translate the forum to Croatian. As far as I understood from other topics, I need to open .pot file, add translations and save them as wpforo-hr_HR.po and wpforo-hr_HR.mo.  I've done a test, copy pasted English translation and translated only a few things to see if it's working, but the translation is not loaded when I put it the files in wp-content/plugins/wpforo/wpf-languages and change the WP language to Croatian.

Am I doing something wrong?

I am Croatian so maybe I can help. 🙂 You don't need to translate files on the server. WpForo has a built-in phrases system. Just go to your Dashboard (Nadzorna Ploča) - Forums - Phrases . From there you can translate all the words and sentences you want to change.

🙂 🙂

I've tried the phrases and I have two problems:

1. I can't translate anything since I can only select English from the dropdown and change the phrase-key but not phrase-value.

2. The UI is terrible. PoEdit has a far better UI and since I have 1100 words to translate I don't want to complicate this even more with bad and slow UI.

Hahah OK. You made one mistake. The locale for Croatian is not hr_HR . It is just hr . I know because that is the thing that has been giving me headaches for months. 😀

So the correct naming would be  wpforo-hr.po

I think it should work. Just make sure Croatian is selected as your default wordpress language.

Hi @koc,

yes, @balkangadgets is right, The correct file name must be wpforo-hr.po/wpforo-hr.mo.

Ah, thanks, @balkangadgets and @sofy. It's strange that convention is not the same for all languages.

@sofy can I send you the .po and .mo files when I'm done so you can include them in the next release?

@balkangadgets if you like and have time, I can attach translations here so you can proofread them.
