Alright, so ... I am trying to move my website from one host to another. From WordPress to WebHost.Pro. My website has WPforo, which has been great.ย

Despite WebHost.Pro's best efforts, they could not just move the site so I am having to rebuild it.

Before beginning that arduous journey, I attempted to use a plugin with exports an entire WordPress site, and then imports it to a new WordPress site location.ย

That plugin failed to actually transfer the site in a useful way, and so I had to wipe everything and just do the hard part of rebuilding.

HOWEVER, the failed program did seem to transfer my plugins. One of which is WPforp. And EVERYTIME I try to activate the WPforo plugin, the entire site, save for the main page goes 404 and the site cannot update.ย

That was not a problem that was fixed by deactivating or deleting the WPforo. The only way I was able to fix that issue was to wipe the site and start over again ... AGAIN.

So, here is my fear.

Even though I have since deactivated and deleted that transferred WPforo installation if I redownload it, will it pull in whatever data it had been using that made it break the site?

How can I stop it from doing that? From pulling in the data from the old install.

I bought like every addon for the WPforo and I want it on my new site.ย

I know this is a really complicated issue, and the forums seems like a weird place to discuss it. But, I didn't see any other way to find tech support for this product.ย

Hi @rivals_rapture,

Please activate the wpForo plugin, navigate to Dashboard > Forums > Settings admin page, make sure the โ€œTurn WordPress to wpForoโ€ option is disabled, then navigate to Dashboard > Forums > Dashboard admin page, click on [Delete all caches] button and check again.ย

Here is my worry, if I activate the plugin, the site breaks. So, can I do that without activating the plugin? And as a reminder, I deleted the plugin, so I'd need to re-install it, if that changes anything.ย

Hi @rivals_rapture,

The problem doesn't come from the wpForo plugin for sure. It seems the plugin you've used to migrate your website doesn't transfer all files or DB tables.

I'd recommend doing the migration of the whole website one more time using e.g. Duplicator Plugin.

Here is an article on how to move a WordPress site with the Duplicator Plugin
