I'm not sure if this is the right forum to ask in, but I was wondering whether it was possible to create a forum that combined the functionality of a standard forum (i.e. being able to make topics and have discussions) with the functionality of a category forum (i.e. being able to make sub-forums) on top. I'm thinking of something like this:

wpForo works like that. Sub Forums are displayed in Forum top, then displayed Topics. here is an example: https://wpforo.com/community/migrate-to-wpforo-from-stand-alone-bulletin-boards/
