Fresh installation giving a 404 page cannot be found within the forum.

http://turbo51.servers.prgn.misp.co.uk/~selfbuild/community/

Obviously the links work as the forum framework is displayed, but nothing else works due the the 404 error.

Any ideas?

Many thanks in advance,

Rob

This is a rather "unusual" url, can you test in a proper domain ?

I'm afraid not at this time as this is a development site for a client and he wants to see it working before it goes live.

Why would this domain cause any problems?

Because we have seen it happen several times and because urls are "involved" with permalinks etc etc.

Seems a little odd as URLs are just text strings.

BUT, going live on the site did get it working!

Although the client has expressed concerns that the programming might be a little weak if it can't cope with things like this.

How do you flag this topic as "solved"?

The "client" apparently has no idea how all this works. That wpForo is not a standalone script, that Wordpress is the CORE, web servers are involved, hosting setups are also involved, php versions, etc etc.

There is nothing "weak" or anything like that with wpForo. We have seen here large wpForo installations running just fine.

Show this to your client and he will be allright.

This was purley a comment relating to the fact we tried a couple of other forum pluggins which all worked with the existing URL, this one didn't.

Now he has seen it working, he is happy with it. So all good in the end and THANK YOU for your help on this!

@digitalmedic

You are welcome. Inform the client also that he will get the phenomenal and free support here by wpForo team, regular updates and also his ideas (if reasonable) could be implemented at some point. A rare thing for a free plugin.

Also lot of (paid) plugins in case he wants to expand a little bit.
