it would be better if you translate it using the POT file, it would be easier. The XML translation is currently designed for quick translation of all front-end phrases and for customization of front and features (template customization, etc...). wpForo Phrases system is designed quick translation from dashboard, you can edit and change any phrase you need. But it'll only be available for you.
